Poi ho saputo del suo cognome e abbiamo iniziato le riprese, sicuri che si sarebbe parlato anche della difficoltà di essere una Binladen. Poi il vento in Arabia Saudita è cambiato e l’incertezza per le potenti famiglie del regno ha impattato anche questo piccolo documentario. Ci sono state diverse revisioni e abbiamo dovuto rinunciare alla parte legata al cognome. Ma forse, la risposta che tutti vorrebbero sentire, è diventata il film stesso: per sentirsi una persona qualsiasi, Mariam, ha dovuto fare una cosa eccezionale…”

“It is by teaching skiing that I have heard about the challenges of Mariam. Then I heard about her last name and we started shooting, sure that we would also talk about the difficulty of being a Binladen. Then the wind in Saudi Arabia changed and the uncertainty for the powerful families of the Kingdom impacted even this little documentary. There have been several revisions and we had to give up the part related to the surname. But perhaps the answer that everyone would like to hear has become the film itself: to feel like an ordinary person, Mariam, he had to do something exceptional.”
